Results, table and squad without retyping: a website linked to Futbalnet

Hand-copied results and tables arrive late, contain mistakes and depend on one person. What a website linked to federation data solves – and what stays with the club.

The final whistle has gone, and fans on the coach and parents at home are opening the club website for the score and the new table. If someone has to copy them across from Futbalnet by hand, they arrive late – or with a mistake. Here is why that happens and what a website linked to federation data changes.

Why retyping fails

Results, league tables and fixtures are kept by the federation in its Futbalnet system. A club that then retypes them onto its own website is doing the same job twice – and again after every round.

At clubs we usually run into three problems:

  • Mistakes. A swapped score, the wrong order in the table, an outdated kick-off time. One typo is enough for fans to stop trusting the rest of the site.
  • Delays. Whoever runs the website is often at the ground at the weekend – as a coach, a parent or an official. The table can easily still show the previous round on Monday.
  • Reliance on one person. Retyping usually rests on a single volunteer. When they fall ill, leave the club or simply run out of time, the website stands still.

Youth football multiplies the work. Every team plays in its own competition with its own table and fixtures, so one copying job suddenly becomes several. In practice the first team is up to date at best, and the youth teams fall behind.

What a website linked to federation data means

A linked website takes tables, results, fixtures and squads straight from the federation data. Nobody copies anything: when the data changes in Futbalnet, it changes on the club website too. Our offer for 3rd and 4th league clubs puts it simply – tables, results and squads update automatically.

For a club official, that means three things:

  • One source of truth. The website shows the same data as the federation, so there is no debate about which figure is right.
  • Every team at once. The link can cover the first team and the youth competitions, not just the team the administrator has time for.
  • Not down to one person. The website stays current even when the administrator is on holiday.

How it looks at FK Spartak Dubnica

On fkspartakdubnica.sk, the website of this 4th-league club, tables, results and fixtures for the first team and the youth sides from U09 to U19 load from federation data. Nobody has to retype them after a match.

Matches take centre stage on the homepage too: the next match with a countdown, the fixture list and, for every match, a button that depends on where it is played – “Buy ticket” at home, “Away trip” on the road. Each team has its own page with the squad – the player's number, position and photo – and a countdown to the next match.

The website runs on T3WEB by AWIS, a solution built on open-source TYPO3. Pages are assembled from ready-made elements, so the club updates matches, squads, merch, events and partners itself, without a developer. You can see the whole project in our FK Spartak Dubnica case study.

What runs itself and what stays with the club

A federation link is not an autopilot for the whole website. The automation knows how the match ended and who sits above you in the table. It does not know why the match mattered, what the stand looked like or what the coach said afterwards.

Automatic

  • tables for every competition the club plays in,
  • results and fixtures,
  • team squads.

The club's job

  • player photos and profiles, so the squad is more than a list of names,
  • match reports and photos from the stand,
  • invitations, youth recruitment, events and partners.

The time the administrator used to spend retyping can go here instead. Fans do not stick with a club because of the table – they can find that on Futbalnet. They stay for content they can only get from you.

What to ask when choosing a website

If your club is considering a new website, we recommend asking the supplier these questions:

  1. Which competitions will be linked – only the first team, or every youth team as well?
  2. Can the club edit the rest of the content itself, or does every change need a developer?
  3. Will the website keep getting fixes and new features after launch?
  4. Can ticket sales and space for partners be tied to the matches?

For FK Spartak Dubnica the answers are: all the club's competitions, editing without a developer, and whenever AWIS improves the T3WEB library, the club website gets the new elements and fixes too. Match tickets and season passes are sold through Tootoot right on the club's website, and partners have their own page. For 3rd and 4th league clubs we offer a sponsorship model: we fund the website build as part of a partnership, and the club pays €149 a month for management and hosting.

Key takeaways

  • Retyping from Futbalnet is needless double work that brings mistakes, delays and reliance on one person.
  • A website linked to federation data keeps tables, results and squads current without the administrator lifting a finger.
  • The club still owns what automation cannot do: photos, match reports, player profiles and events.
  • When choosing a website, ask about youth teams, editing without a developer and development after launch.
